QUADS May 2010 show
Quartet: four one-act comedies

The Box Office is open (phone Marilyn on 01332 840518) for our Spring show, from Weds 12th May to Sat 15th May 2010 and will be a set of four one-act plays, two each directed by Jan and Vicki. The plays are:

The Last Bread Pudding by Nick Warburton (comedy)
A Respectable Funeral by Jimmie Chinn (comedy)
+ two other one-act plays.

Rehearsal for the Last Bread Pudding (cast member attached to spoon!)

The set is nearing completion and rehearsals have started on the main stage, following early rehearsals downstairs and in the Joiners (what a hardship...). After a successful trip with 11 QUADS people recently to see Kirk Langley Drama Group effortlessly do two one-act plays and a number of sketches and musical numbers in a much smaller hall, very entertaining (and they had an interval bell...), I'm really looking forward to our varied show.

QUADS Quiz Night - Saturday 17th April, 7.30pm

As a bit of light relief from learning lines, Saturday 17th April at 7.30pm sees the return of the famous QUADS Quiz Night organised by Debs. Teams of four, plus there will be a Fish and Chip Supper from George’s (Debs will take orders well beforehand - please ring Debs on 01332 553875). Cost is £7 including Fish & Chip supper and there will be a raffle - if you can manage to bring anything to increase the number of prizes, that'd be great! This Quiz is open to all, not just QUADS people, so please spread the word!

I had  the following email, please reply directly to John woody_smw@hotmail.com if you are interested:

"My name is John Wood and I am a 3rd year film student at Derby University and am looking for actors for two separate films I am producing in the next couple of months. I have one completed script (adapted from The Trial by Franz Kafka) and another one in the works. If you could pass this message and my email address woody_smw@hotmail.com onto anyone who might be interested i would be greatly appreciative. I am planning to start shooting asap, hopefully before the end of March. If you want any more information about my films just let me know. John woody_smw@hotmail.com ", Character list for first film is below:

Joseph K: He works as a bank teller and is being tried for a crime he doesn’t know. He is a man in his mid to late 20’s. He is tall and thin with dark hair

Secretary:A good looking but worn down woman who works for the courts. At first she is very professional with K but then becomes flirty with him and offers to help him if he takes her away from her life in the courts. But she is corrupt and is trying to manipulate K.

Judge:An older, stern man who like punctuality. He does not like K. and is very dismissive with him, not caring about the facts of the case being correct or proper procedure being carried out. He is corrupt and wealthy.

Lawyer Huld:A sickly lawyer put on K. case by his uncle. He is a nice man but is under the thumb of the court and can’t help K. enough, so K. takes him off his case but keeps him on as a consult.

Chaplain:An Older man of the cloth who works as the prisons chaplain. He is the only impartial and uncorrupt person K. meets in the court. The Chaplain talk to K. and gives him perspective on his trial.

See you soon!
