QUADS AGM -
committee changes
This year's AGM
took place in early June and was again well attended. The previous chair,
Marilyn Pendlebury, was thanked for her contribution by the new chair, Debs
Simpson. Val Turner stood after many years, helping particularly with
publicity and set design (Thanks Val!). Rob Snell and Martin Booth
continue as secretary and treasurer. After an election Sue Green and Simon
Carr joined the committee. Sue Green has since been appointed New Members
Officer to help with recruitment and looking after new starters. A
Vice-Chair will be appointed in due course.
Auditions, Wednesday 11th August 2010, 8pm
The Joiners Arms, 60 Church Road, Quarndon DE22 5JA
We start rehearsing our next play in early
September. We will be having an audition for this in the function room of
the Joiners Arms, Church Road, Quarndon DE22 5JA on Weds 11th August, 8pm
until 10pm, hope to see you there if you are interested.
The audition is quite relaxed, the director
usually asking people to read the various parts of an example play and go
through a scene together. You don’t need to prepare anything beforehand.
The play itself will be Weds 17th to Sat
20th November, the choice of play is done after the audition as it depends
on the age and gender of who is available. If you can’t get to the audition,
you can let the director Jan (phone
01332 552244) know you are interested in being
considered for a part.
Play Reading in the Park, Darley Park, Saturday 7th August 2010, 6pm
Simon Carr
is organising a Play Reading in Darley Park, Saturday 7th August,
6pm start, take a picnic. No prior script preparation necessary, just turn
up and read a part.
We will be meeting in the Darley Park car park, next to
British Legion Club, near the Abbey Inn, Darley Street DE22 1DX.
QUADS One-Act/Quiz
Night
The one-act comedy
directed by Simon Carr proved to be a great success with much laughter in
the hall throughout. Three possible new members attended who we hope to see
again at the audition. The quiz, organised for the first time by Martin and
Sheila, was excellent and was won by just one point by team "Team Name".
We hope to have another quiz night in the
autumn, further details to follow later in the year.
QUADS
Book Fair - Books required
We are planning to hold
a book sale/coffee morning in the village hall in October. Further details
to follow, but we would like to get donations of books to sell from members
and their friends, family and neighbours (please ask around). Whatever you
can manage is great, but 20 donations of 20 books would give us a range of
400 books to sell. Please note we are sticking to paperbacks and children's
books only. Please hang on to them yourself for now, we will collect them
together later, perhaps at one or more of the rehearsals.
