On Friday 11th Sept at 7.30pm (for 8pm play reading start) QUADS members, family and friends are invited to a Play Reading in Quarndon Village Hall. There will be an American Supper - people are asked to bring food to share and drinks for themselves The play to be read is ‘Last Tango in Whitby’ by Mike Harding. The various parts to be read out will be chosen on the night. Please come in evening wear (theme of the play is around ballroom dancing), ladies in evening dresses and gents in DJs or suits. There will be a charge of £2.50 on the door and a raffle. Doors will open at 7pm to allow for setting up of the room. In early December, ‘Comfort & Joy’ is proposed for the next play reading. QUADS November 2009 shows: "Pastimes" and "Curtain Up!" The comedies are 'Pastimes' and 'Curtain Up!', both firm favourites with local theatre groups. A little more detail about these shows can be found on the Current Productions webpage. As with the last Double Bill, tickets will be £6 for either show, or a combined ticket for both shows for just £10, box office details to follow. The dates are spread over a two-week period: Wednesday 18th Nov Pastimes Sunday technical rehearsals will be 1st, 8th and 15th November, with a dress rehearsal on Monday 16th November at 7.30pm. The regular Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals will be longer than usual, from 7 until 10pm with the intention to do 1.5 hours for each play on each night. The order will be regularly swapped over so that one cast doesn't get all the late nights. The current list of hall bookings for autumn rehearsals and shows is here (Excel document) Team Events/QUADS Cabaret Night, Saturday 5th December, 7.45pm I've received a few more details for this, the date is confirmed now for 5th December, not the 12th and a 7.45 for 8pm start. There will be an American (Bring and Share) Supper. Tickets will be £5 to include a prize draw/free raffle. Any queries, please speak to Tony Glover directly who is our Team Events contact. QUADS Committee Changes At the last committee
meeting, Elaine Bentley announced her
formal resignation from the committee, as she is
moving away from the area. On behalf of the committee, Marilyn thanked
Elaine for her significant and valuable contribution to the society and
added that she would be greatly missed and wished her well in the future. In
the light of Elaine’s departure from the society,
the committee welcomes Tina Clouston
as a new committee member.
